cracks is a work for stereo fixed media in which all sounds are derived from a recording of a tongue drum using a contact mic attached to the top of it. The raw recordings were already either heavily distorted (as a result of the contact mic buzzing ontop of the vibrating drum), or very clear in tone and pitch. The recordings were heavily processed to transform the original material until it became unrecognizable, and something entirely new.
