flute trio

De Futoro
De Futoro is Latin for “regarding the future.” This flute trio was composed while the composer was making decisions regarding their future, particularly related to how and where they should pursue their graduate level education. Much time was spent pondering different possibilities, weighing out the benefits of each choice, and imagining life in each potential new environment.
This concept is juxtaposed by using compositional techniques that the composer learned during the first year of their undergraduate studies. The two main techniques included are generated pitch material and rhythm streams (using one rhythm to generate all the rhythms throughout the piece).
De Futoro was premiered by USF Flute Studio flautists Louis Torres, Gabrielle Small, and Emily Numen, under the direction of Francesca Arnone.
